NORA by Perton Living – a new co-living development featuring WebLock Shield smart door handles alongside standalone keypads

Perton Living’s new rental building is equipped with WebLock’s new Shield smart door handles on the apartment doors. The building also uses standalone keypads. As with any WebLock installation, residents can use the same code to open every door they are authorised to access.

Perton Living’s new co-living development focuses on both resident comfort and efficient property management. The building’s thoughtfully designed studio and one-bedroom apartments are complemented by smart technology that supports these goals. As with any WebLock installation, residents can use the same code to open every door they are authorised to access. Additionally, the property management team manages access rights centrally, whether a door has a keypad or a smart handle.

Conventional buttons provide clear tactile feedback

NORA’s property management team preferred smart door handles with mechanical buttons. Clearly defined keys and tactile feedback make each press easy to feel, helping users enter their codes confidently.

WebLock Shield integrates a keypad and an RFID reader into the door handle. Doors can be opened using either a PIN code or an RFID card. Shield is also available with a touch-sensitive keypad, allowing customers to choose the version that best suits their setting and preferences.

Smart handles and standalone keypads work together

The NORA installation combines WebLock Shield smart door handles with standalone keypads, while the property management team controls access through a single WebLock interface. For outdoor locations and the building’s busiest shared-access doors, the team chose standalone keypads. Meanwhile, the rental apartment doors feature Shield smart handles, which combine the door handle and keypad in a single device.

WebLock automates access management: when a resident makes a booking, the system issues a personal code that opens their apartment door and the shared areas they can access during their stay. Then, when the booking ends—even if it ends early—the system automatically deactivates the code.

WebLock Controllers

Access controllers housed in a compact cabinet

A compact control cabinet in the building’s technical room houses the controllers that operate the locks. While traditional access control installations often spread hardware across walls and above ceilings, WebLock brings the controllers and their connections together in one place. Moreover, the cabinet takes up significantly less space than comparable installations from many other locking systems.

Guests value contactless accommodation

According to Gerda Luik, Accommodation Manager at Perton Living, all NORA apartments are currently occupied, and interest in apartments as they become available remains strong. “We see that our customers value a simple, contactless accommodation experience,” she explains.
